Today I hosted a brunch for the ladies involved with the Prison Ministry. Everything turned out lovely... just a little backwards. My new recipe for Bacon & Egg Lasagna took a bit longer to prepare than I expected. No problem! We had desert and coffee first then we ate the delicious creamy entree. After the meal we sat and enjoyed each other's company for a while. Such a refreshing break from the daily grind. We regret to announce that Plain Old Kristi was unable to attend due to the fact that she has a sick brood of little chickies that need alot of T.L.C. I hope everything works out. Also if you're lurking around MONIQUE, thanks for your comment it was nice to hear from you. Don't be a stranger. Feel free to lurk as much as you like. ;-)

Backwards Brunch

I love the set too. I wish you could see them better though. In real life the colors are much more vivid and sparkly. I bought them last year at Whole Foods of all places. The boxes have a web address. They are called Table Ornaments by Rosanna and the address is: www.rosannainc.com
As for the cake....yes and no. The cake part is a square Pepridge Farm chocolate cake. I stood those long tube looking cookies around the sides and tied a triple ribbon around the cookies (this part required extra hands) then I garnished the top with fresh fruit. This one truly was a piece of cake!

Hmm...I'm hosting the bible study next weekend, maybe I'll copycat and make one of those cakes! Monique won't be here (which is why it's at my house instead of hers) so she can't tattle that it wasn't my original idea! LOL! I might try "gluing" the cookies on the edge with a little icing or something though (or Elmer's...whatevers on hand!). I'm not coordinated enough to do that even with extra hands. lol!
