Update:

In case you haven't noticed, there is an additional child in our family photo. I would like you all to meet the newest member of our family. She is the pretty little 7 year old in the purple dress. "Eloise" now has a little sister. We have decided to call her, "Amelia Bedelia".

It's Me Again!

I'm back ...just recovering from Spring Break! It's amazing how many people need your assistance since, "you don't have anything important to do this week." Today has been my first "normal" day in the past ten. I got up, got my daughter & self dressed, fed daughter, grabbed an apple ran out the door, worked till 3:30, drove daughter home, greeted husband who just got off work, cooked us a snack, got her started on her homework, & rushed to college for 4:00 class. After I finish blogging I have to write a speech for class tomorrow....sigh it feels so good to have a legitimate reason to tell people NO! LOL ;-)

Just Chillin With My Peeps!

These are my pink chooks. They just arrived aren't they adorable! LOL!
Did you know that with a little TLC and a microwave these babies will grow nice and fat.? A dear friend named Carmen showed me that trick. Well anyway...after church we're just gonna eat a big meal and hang around the homestead for once. My poor hubby has to work! We're gonna miss him, but we won't be lonely because my parents, in-laws, and niece will be here to celebrate Easter. We're gonna have a blast I'm sure. Hope you have a blessed Holiday! If you're actually reading this on Sunday afternoon........turn off the computer and go do something....oh I dunno....EASTERISH!!!!!

Little Workshop...Big Success!

One assignment for my teaching degree was to organize and implement a group student activity. For some reason I don't know how to take baby steps. My husband asked me if I had lost my mind when I came up with this idea. I believe his exact words were"250 little kids with hammers!?!.......Ok.....alright I'll see what I can do." I was a nervous wreck because I wasn't really sure I could pull it off, but with a little help from a few people it was a huge success. Home Depot donated volunteers, tools, aprons and supplies. The local High school obtained permission for 33 of their students to be bussed to the elementary school to assist the children with their projects. It was noisy, but everything ran smoothly and on schedule. The high school kids had to be in and out in two hours! Teachers, Big kids, & Little kids were all smiles. I had the biggest smile of all because I managed to have fun while earning valuable experience for my teaching portfolio.

It is Finished!

No more boo-hoo-ing....no more handouts ...no more publicity shots.....and no more toothpaste! This may sound crazy, but the last one really got to me. Just a couple of days ago I was jolted out of la la land when a sudden realization hit me. When Katrina hit us and knocked us to the ground the people of this wonderful nation pulled together and sent us all kinds of supplies. God bless you if you donated, but let me be candid for a moment. It's hard to show overwhelming gratitude for things like toothpaste when you don't know where half of your loved ones are...Are they ok?......Where am I going to live?...etc. So here I am 2 1/2 years later and I reached into the cabinet to get one of my freebie tubes of Crest that I had stockpiled and to my dismay found none! It was at that moment that I realized that it was over. I am now on my own. Everyone has been a tremendous blessing, but it's time to move on.....gosh I don't even know what a tube costs anymore! Whatever the cost it was shocking because anything is more expensive than free. I said all of this to say THANK YOU whoever you are for taking care of the little things while my family and I were unable to do it for ourselves.

Cuttin Up!

Our neighbors (the few we have) probably think we're nuts. We bought a new lawn mower because we got tired of borrowing one from relatives. So there we were in the garden center at Home Depot trying to decide which mower was the best value. We don't have a huge yard so we don't need anything fancy. Jokingly I said why don't we just get that old fashioned spinning blade type. My husband was all for it. He started smiling thinking about not having to buy gas for the thing. Next thing you know we're in the living room putting it together. It was a snap. We took it out for a test drive and found it had an added bonus.....Our daughter is now able and willing to cut the grass! It does a great job. We tried out the 4 different height adjustments and settled on the second level. I wouldn't buy one if I cut grass for a living, but for our purposes it's perfect. It is light weight and as you can see by the picture it's not hard to use. We will still be using the gas edger though.

Baby Steps

We still haven't made any decisions as to what type of adoption we will do, but regardless all avenues require a home study so it only seems logical to start at that point. I called and set up an appointment for our first orientation which will lead to our home study. One foot in front of the other....one day at a time. With a little guidance from the Lord we're gonna make it!
