Update:

In case you haven't noticed, there is an additional child in our family photo. I would like you all to meet the newest member of our family. She is the pretty little 7 year old in the purple dress. "Eloise" now has a little sister. We have decided to call her, "Amelia Bedelia".

Playing Tourist in Our Own Back Yard...

These lovely ladies(below) took me out as a graduation present.
First we visited a local farmer's market.

If you look just above the plants (above left) you will see a black butterfly that kept darting in and out of the plants and around the customer's heads.

Above and below are some of our loot. The fuzzy looking plant below is called lamb's ear. It is unbelievably soft. I thought Eloise would appreciate it. I was right.

After we left the farmer's market, we headed for La Madelaine's where we enjoyed a delicious lunch and each other's fellowship.
"K" was here, but all of the pics that she was in didn't come out clearly.

After lunch, we went "Junkin" as we ladies in the south are fond of calling it.

I didn't buy anything, but I love looking at old stuff.
I saw a couple of old strollers like the one above.
Isn't it sweet?
Well any way we had a blast playing tourists.
Thanks again to my two amigas!

Thanks To My Wonderful Family......

Without the support of my husband and daughter, I wouldn't have made it this far. Tonight I received my Associate of Science in Teaching degree. With their encouragement I should be able to finish the requirements for my Bachelor's degree as well.

P.S. Eloise won 2nd place in the 3rd grade Poetry category for the entire Parish & her little friend also won for her grade level. Way to go girls!

Memories in the making....

This weekend I get to play hostess. One of the young men in our church is dating a young lady from out of town. Tonight is our annual Spring Banquet. As you can see from the picture, it is a formal event. I hope our guest enjoys her stay. She has a beautiful spirit and we have enjoyed having her.

Thanks for a job well done!

My daughter just informed me that I completely forgot teacher appreciation week. What? When? How? These were some of the questions I asked. It turns out that it was last week. I certainly don't want my daughter's teacher to think that we don't see all of the hard work that she puts into her class. She goes above and beyond the call of duty. One time this year she called on a Saturday just to check on Eloise, because she had a rough day on Friday. Also, I know that she is an excellent teacher, because I have personally dropped in unannounced (I can do that because I work there) and she is always involving the children in wonderful activities... so, I took Eloise to pick out a gift certificate and "thank you" card. The picture above is what the card and certificate looked like after they paid a visit to our arts & crafts room. I love, love, love ribbon!

Today, I kissed the brown bag goodbye!

Many of you know that I have been sick a couple of times this last semester. I truly believe it is because I have been so busy that I haven't been eating, sleeping, or exercising properly. Well , now that I have a little time off I started taking my daily vitamins again. I also started exercising yesterday and today I treated myself to a gourmet meal. It has always been an unspoken rule in my life that I save the best of everything for company. I usually eat the ends of the bread and use the mug that has a chip in it. Don't get me wrong, I love treating my guests. I especially love the smiles on their faces when I serve something yummy, but today I decided to treat myself. Instead of grabbing the bread and making a turkey sandwich for lunch.... I went all out. I even used the good china! I must say that I impressed myself. It only took me 15-20 minutes and it probably cost me less than $4. Who says being frugal or healthy has to be boring?
In case you were wondering: Citrus Grilled Tilapia with Avocado Salsa and Steamed Asparagus drizzled with Hollandais Sauce.

On The Road Again....

At the end of this month I will receive my Associates degree in the Science of Teaching.

For my graduation my parents decided to buy me a new set of wheels.

Isn't she a beauty?

I guess they figured that I should be highly visible for safety reasons.

I must say the only thing that I ever owned that was that shade of pink, came in a bottle from the drug store.

I'm not complaining....really....I just think it is hilarious!

I guess it fits for a nearing middle aged woman riding a scooter.

I really do enjoy tooling around the neighborhood on it.

Now hubby gets to brag that he is married to a biker babe. ROTFL!

Hey maybe I'll get a pink leather jacket for Mother's Day?!?

***P.S. What do you think about my new blog look?***

Freedom...

The end of the semester has finally arrived! This chick has successfully completed 27 classes with nothing below a "B"

I only have 18 more classes to go to get my Bachelors degree.

To date I have also completed 2 Praxis Exams, 1 Portal assesment, and 1 Disposition Review

So I have 1 Praxis, 1Portal, 1 Disposition Review, and 130 more observation hours to go before I'm a real teacher.

I am definately taking the summer off...and maybe the fall so I can make up some of my observation hours and spend more time with my family.

By the way.....WE ALSO JUST PAID OFF OUR CAR. WOOHOO!
NO MORE CAR PAYMENTS!

Look out summer here I come.

SWINE FLEW......

LOL!
I'm such a cornball, but it's o.k.

A local radio station asked the audience to come up with a new name for the swine flu because some people were offended. My husband didn't call in, but turned to me and said, "They should call it UFLAE." When questioned he responded, "It's Pig Latin for Flu." My husband is such a scholar!
;-D
