Update:

In case you haven't noticed, there is an additional child in our family photo. I would like you all to meet the newest member of our family. She is the pretty little 7 year old in the purple dress. "Eloise" now has a little sister. We have decided to call her, "Amelia Bedelia".

How We Celebrated Mardi Gras.....

We made a Mock King Cake.
The base is three cans refrigerated cinnamon roll dough arranged in a ring and slightly flattened.

After baking, I drizzled the icing from the can all over the top.
Carmacita decorated it with colored sugar.
*It has more of a king cake texture if you let it cool, cover it, and let it sit over night.*

This whole week Eloise has been having a blast.
She has been roller blading, bike riding, learning to play baseball, and working on some projects for the upcoming community art show (where our church's choir and brass band will be performing.)

Mardi Gras Day we decided to head out of town to avoid all of the parade junk.
We met with a few friends (family really), barbecued, relaxed, and played some too.

More friends (family).

Here is Kristi and Ses headed to the lake for some fishin.

Fishing Sisters.

Eloise & Hubby.

They had a great time catching some rays...

.... and sticks. No fish this time, but at least they had fun!
*Posting will be off & on due to upcoming Mid Terms, but I still view your blogs regularly.

Make Way For Fancy Nancy

Last week was Celebrate Literacy Week.
Friday was "Be Your Favorite Book Character Day."

My little darling is a voracious reader so its hard to pick a favorite.

The true determining factor was the fact that it was Thursday evening, I was working on an assignment for my school, and I still hadn't made it to the store for costume stuff.
We dove into the toy box and dug out some old favorites.
My husband was such a blessing.
He sewed all of the embellishments on to the dress while I typed my paper feverishly.
He even sewed some beads to the sides of her glasses.
I Love That Guy.

On Friday morning I rolled, teased, and piled her hair high in proper Nancy fashion.
Off she went with her ruffled socks, gloves, and tiara.

Food, Friends, & Fun.....

Here are some pics of our church's ladies Valentine Craft/pizza/fellowship Party.

Each lady received a goody box that also contained the name of a sister for which she will pray every day until the next ladies gathering.

Some of the supplies for making Valentines......

Below the Birthday Girl sneaks a piece of pizza.

Ladies....ladies....there are enough supplies to go around! There is no need to arm wrestle.

Here our unofficial ladies secretary gets some business out of the way.

Above: some of our new friends make themselves at home....

....old friends do the same.

Since this gathering wasn't during school some of our young ladies were able to attend.

Some of the ladies show off their finished Valentines.

Sisters B.B. & T.B. proudly display their artwork.

Some of the younger ladies worked diligently until the end.

Here is one such youth with her valentine that she made for her father.
(love the chicken Terra.)

All things considered I think the ladies had a great time of food, fun, and fellowship.
Thanks to all the dear hubbies who babysat!

Posting from exile......

First, I would like to begin by saying thanks to all who have been praying for Eloise. She is doing better and her fever is all gone.....
Now, if it wouldn't be too much to ask, could you please say a prayer for me? I am currently stuck in a hospital bed. I thought I could just waltz right into the doctor's office and waltz right out with a prescription......I wish! So any way it turns out that I had a fever, my heart was beating at 140 bpm, I was very dehydrated, I have the flu, and the beginning stages of some sort of post flu-staph- pneumonia thingy. So the doctors thought it would be nice for me to stay for a while and visit. Before you gasp and fall on the floor.... I'm feeling much better at this point. Let's just say I've been overly medicated. The hardest part is sitting around looking at the walls all day. My parents just left with my little dumplin. They were so kind as to lend me their laptop and air card.....You see God already answered one of my prayers today. Now let's just pray I get outta here before they deliver another one of those brown dome looking trays with mystery meat.....not that I'm picky, but I can think of so many other ways to spend $1000.!

Eloise has a fever......

NO.......Not that kind of fever!

The icky not so fun kind.

She woke up last night and her temp. was 103.5 degrees.
We have been medicating at 4 hour interval since 1:30 am.

This is about the right time for her annual bout with Strep.

I will never forget the look on the doctor's face the first time she was diagnosed with strep. She had all the symptoms: strawberry tongue, sandpaper rash a.k.a. scarlet fever, swollen tonsils, and the whole nine yards. She was a miserable little five year old to say the least. The doctor turned to me and quietly said it's your choice, but I think it would mean faster recovery if we administered a s...h...o...t to which my daughter replied, "oh just give me the shot and get it over with please!"

ROTFL

I just love her to pieces!
Can't wait till she's back on her feet again.
