Update:

In case you haven't noticed, there is an additional child in our family photo. I would like you all to meet the newest member of our family. She is the pretty little 7 year old in the purple dress. "Eloise" now has a little sister. We have decided to call her, "Amelia Bedelia".

Pictures, Packing, & Praise

Monique, here is the pic you wanted from my spinner. I put a couple of pics below of Children's choir, talent show and your niece teaching Sunday school. You should be able to right click on the photos and copy them to your computer. Let me know if it doesn't work. I will also be looking for more pics & will post them for you. Be sure to let your church know that on this 3rd anniversary of Katrina I was thinking about all the extended church family we met throughout this whole ordeal and I just had to smile. ;-) Thanks to all especially Sis Nita. God is so good & faithful! I am still on this learning journey, but I can say I am a lot more patient than I was 3 years ago. Am I thinking about this "Gustav" that's brewing out there?....All lies aside....YES!... but I am surely not stricken with fear because I know my God does as He pleases and that all things work for the good when it comes to His children. Now I have to quit playing an start packing important papers & stuff since they might be calling a mandatory evacuation tomorrow. I think all will be fine, but if it's not I want to use this wonderful mind the good Lord gave me and be better prepared this time.

No Greater Joy

Warm Fuzzies

My daughter has reached a stage in her life where she sometimes pushes her limits. She is stretching her wings so to speak. Being an only child in a neighborhood where there are no neighbors, Eloise is used to being around mostly adults. She hasn't mastered the skill of social graces. As her mother I tend to worry about her emotional well being. My fears were put to rest today. I was cleaning out her back pack and found a bunch of "Warm Fuzzies." Once a day each child is allowed to get a "warm fuzzy" slip and write a nice message to the student they choose. The teacher collects them and distributes them on Friday. Eloise received nine this week! All from different students in her class. They said things like; "you are so nice to me" and "thank you." awe.......I'm getting warm fuzzies ;-) I knew she had it in her....somewhere!

The day that forever changed our lives....

Today we celebrate the anniversary of an event that changed our lives forever. The care free days of just living for one's self came to a screeching halt eight years ago on this very day. Crayons and chicken nuggets bumped filet mignon and valet parking from their lofty pedestals. It's not all gloom, despair, and agony though.....there is a silver lining to this story.....because of this monumental event.....every year on August 21st ........our family is entitled to a free ice cream and a snazzy sombrero!.....Tears of joy....just think....it's all worth it in the end. ;-p

Maw Maw's B-Day is in August too!
Dos Sombreros!!!

Silly Dad...Sombreros are for Birthdays!!

The best day ever...

Oh, the joys of childhood!
It would be great if we all had the simple faith & joy of a child.
Most days she is just another 3rd grader, but not today....
Today she is the object of daddy's affection.
Today daddy isn't just a dad...
He is the coolest guy and this is the best day ever!!!

Could somebody please tell me what just happened...

Today was Eloise's first day in the third grade so it was a pretty hectic affair to begin with. After she got all of her chatter about school out of her system I decided to close my eyes for 30 minutes or so before we had to leave for her violin lessons. I had just begun to doze off when I thought I heard my husband say wake up we have some people from France in our front yard. I thought to myself this is either a bizarre dream or I'm going to strangle my husband for his sick sense of humor. Yawn...stretch...look around the room.......hear...... FRENCH .....VOICES!!!.....jump up....do the flight of the bumble bee.... So...... there we sat in my dining room. My husband, his mom, his third cousin from FRANCE, her husband from FRANCE, and their children from FRANCE, looking at pictures while Eloise serenaded us. They commented quite emphatically that Eloise is a spittin image of the cousin when she was a little girl(except they said it all FRENCH like.) Well I hope so, I wouldn't want to be entertaining complete strangers if they didn't bear some sort of resemblance. ;-) ROTFL
So what do you do when the introductions are all over and your accents don't quite mesh?......I tell you what we did... we took them to the World Famous "Willie D's Cadillac Custard Shop." They didn't get to meet the King of Custard(Willie D from Arabi) since we didn't have a reservation, but they did get to see the Duchess of Custard (Willies daughter.) There were lots of smiles and mmm's going on (thank God food is a universal language!) We snapped a few photos and they were wisked off in the Honda Oddesy and we were left scratching our heads and laughing. Was that for real?!? Ya Gotta Love My World! ;-)

Music to my ears!

Today we got a lot accomplished. Our garage, back patio, and front porch are clean. We also weeded the front flower bed & edged the front & side yard. The best part of the day was when my dear hubby decided to tackle the broken brick path to my side porch. He has been avoiding it for a while due to the fact that the path is made of "Old Chicago" brick and we don't have any extras to match. He had to carefully remove the mortar without breaking the bricks which are delicate because they are so old. They are all cleaned and ready to re-set tomorrow. The only thing more pleasant than the sound of the hammer was the sound of Eloise serenading him as he worked! ;-)

P.S. We worked so hard today that I treated myself to waffles with blue berries, bananas, butter, pecans, and syrup for dinner ;-p

I'm Feeling Kinda Oldish...

Today I had one of those blinding revelatory moments.
;-0

As my daughter was digging through the closet in the spare bedroom, She came across a children's story tape. She was all excited because she knew there was a story on it. So she said, "can we listen to it?" I said, " ok, go in your room and get your Barbie boom box and we'll listen to it." Then I thought about it and asked, "does your boom box have a tape player?" She was trying to remember and then replied, " I'll go check....by the way what does a tape player look like any way?" I thought she was kidding, but she was serious. As I started pondering I realized that she assumes that all pictures can be viewed instantly and has never licked a stamp. For Heavens Sake.....What is this world coming to!?!
